Rod Taylor - ‘Sing Praises’

‘Sing Praises’ is Reggae Roast’s 1st outing in 2013, building on a positive year for the label with sell-out events, fresh new releases and recent additions to their team. They've drawn for a classic slice of Roots Rockers Reggae courtesy of foundation artist Rod Taylor with Adam Prescott & Manasseh at controls in addition to a foray into the future with Alpha Steppa & Vibration Lab.

‘Sing Praises’ promotes a conscious message throughout this four-track release and evokes an optimistic stance on Rasta ideology. Rod Taylor steps out with his timeless style reminiscent of his early Channel One output that is reinforced by Adam Prescott &  Nick Manasseh to create a truly meditative sound.

Together with the likes of Barry Brown, Sugar Minott and Barrington Levy, Rod Taylor was one of the first generation of Jamaican singers to make their reputation on Soundsystem. His inimitable style led him to work with some of the most revered producers in the Reggae scene (Ossie Hibbert, Prince Far I   Mikey Dread to name but a few) thus creating a worldwide following for his works. Currently residing in France, Rod is still very much at the top of his game as this release proves in addition to a constant demand to spread his Rootical messages on the top European Soundsystems.

The new recruit is Nottingham's own Adam Prescott, an up and coming producer combining a crucial selection of rough and tough Roots music with a modern injection of Dubstep. With support and guidance from Mark Iration (from the Leeds based Iration Steppas) Adam has been making moves in the world of Dub & Dubstep for a number of years working on original tunes with well known and established artists alongside remixing for some of the top sounds in the scene.

Nick Manasseh has been behind hit after hit throughout his extensive career at the forefront of Roots music. From the late 80’s with his 1st outfit, Sound Iration, and his KISS FM days right through to his recent string of Reggae Roast & Roots Garden riddims, Nick continues to innovate and never imitate as he brings out a contemplative and mystical Dub that only he can.

With two additional Dubwise excursions included, from Vibration Lab & Alpha Steppa, this release caters for the full length of the Reggae spectrum. Alpha Steppa (2nd generation from the distinguished Alpha & Omega outfit) serves up a re-imagining of the original vocal from Rod to showcase his distinctive ‘Steppas’ style. Vibration Lab step up to the plate with their ‘Future Reggae’ sound supplying a forward thinking remix that reinforces the original message.

This is the 1st of many exciting contemporary releases lined up for 2013 including Conscious Sounds (Bush Chemists), Ramon Judah, Vibration Lab, Dubmatix, Hollie Cook, Rebel MC & Adam Prescott as well as continued sell out shows both in the UK & Europe.
