Mungo's Hi Fi ft. Lady Ann – Sound Get A Beating

Lady Ann comes in hard with a certified sound killer, beating down any dibbi
dibbi who wants to come try test. Riding the old time dance riddim with a rough
n tough vocal over the 80's digital style, together with the clean riddim this is an
essential 7” for all DJ's and jugglers.

This is a limited edition run.

Mungo's HiFi ft Soom T - Bong Bong EP

The "Bong Bong" EP is a foray into the world of digital reggae. The much requested title
track takes Sister Nancy's 'Bam Bam' bang up to date in a smoky fashion. Soom's singing abilities
shine through in the ultra modern '31st Century Song'. 'I Need Weed' and 'Boom Shiva' are familiar
tales about the good ole chronic which appeared on Jahtari's "Ode to a Carrot" . These versions are
from a much earlier recording session and have a different edge.

Available now from ScotchBonnet.net

Mungo's Hi Fi ft Soom T - Listening Bug EP

"The Listening Bug" EP showcases the Mungo's Hi Fi sound that does not fit straight into the reggae mold.
It's electronic with a LFO bass driven flurry and minimal meandering melodies. Track 'Jump up' quickly is
full of eastern mystique before cutting to a hard hitting rap style mixed in with Eek-a-Mouse. 'Run
Fool' is dark, jittery and hard, while 'War Song' has a sound that would not be out of place as the next
James bond theme tune.

Digitaldubs feat Brother Culture - Holding Down A Vibe

Brand new on the Muzamba label is a 7" produced by Brazil's number one soundsystem, Digitaldubs, inspired by the Amazonian Tecno-Brega scene with low tech Casio sounds and featuring the living legend Brother Culture, who works hard to keep righteous dancehall culture alive and always holds down a vibe. Mungo's Hi Fi feat Yellowman & Mr Williamz - Dubplate Master

Mr Williamz has been in high demand since appearing on Mungo's last album 'Forward
Ever' with his whopping Musically Mad and Computer Age hits. Those clamouring for
more will not be disappointed with his brand new lick, this time a combination with
Yellowman, and when the bassline drops and the vocals kick in it's like cool runnings all
over.

The flip side carries straight karnival style dancefloor instrumental, along with a half time swing version with a totally different groove and dutty, dutty bassline.

Play Music Selecta!

There are 2 Big new singles coming out on Scotch Bonnet Records featuring Little John, Jah Thomas, Sugar Minott , Lady Anne and Ranking Levy, with production by Mungo's Hi Fi, Kalbata and RSD.
These awesome releases, due out on April 14th, will be available as 180g 12” vinyls and digital format. Their style is in the rub-a-dub fashion, but they have been blended using modern mixing and production techniques to make them bang up-to-date but without loosing that classic feel.
As you would expect both releases are heavy on the bass with the first EP featuring a remix from Mungo's of seasoned dancehall veterans Little John & Jah Thomas with ‘Play Music Selecta’ and then an RSD cut of Little John’s ‘Sugar Plum Plum’. Both vocal tracks were originally recorded in Jamaica for Kalbata and Mixmonster's fully analogue original 'Sugar Plum' release on Soul Jazz and to complete the release there is also an RSD instrumental work out of ‘Sugar Plum’.
The second EP is solely Mungo’s featuring the vocal talents of the late Sugar Minott with the hauntingly prophetic track ‘Got To Make Tracks’, voiced in Scotland shortly before his passing. Then there is Kingston 13’s Lady Ann giving rough and tough ragamuffin chat to the love song ‘Doctor Doctor’ while Israeli Ranking Levy adds a classic dancehall vibe in the style of Big Youth on ‘New York Boogie’ before again the EP is topped off with an instrumental.
Go Listen to the tracks on Soundcloud or on youtube SCOB024 SCOB025 now!!

Also available now at Mixcloud to listen to is a live session recorded on January 28th at Nantes Dub Station in France from Mungos Hi Fi with vocalists Marina P, YT, Solo Banton and Kenny Knots. Although only recorded on an ambient mic the sound quality is pretty good and well worth checking out.

Mungo’s Hi Fi remix “Everyman Does His Thing A Little Way Different”

Mungo's Hi Fi are to release their remix of "Everyman Does His Thing A Little Way Different" taken from the album ‘Time Will Tell’ by Henry and Louis meets Blue and Red (aka RSD). The vocal is by Pacey and is a reworking of the Errol Dunkley original of the same name.
The song came about following a chance encounter with UB40 in Jamaica, who linked up a legendary recording session with top artists like Johnny Clarke, Tony Tuff and Willie Williams.
Mungo's Hi Fi have taken the vocal and crafted a one a way riddim track bringing it bang up to date in the only way they know how by adding a very heavy bass vibe to proceedings that you can feel as well as hear.
The flip side of this 180g heavyweight 12" features a dub work out by Mungo’s and it will be available from the 24th of January on Scotch Bonnet records.

Mungos News!

Friday 25th September saw the return of Mungo's Hi Fi Sound System to the Artschool after a four month summer break and also marked the last time that Mungo's will play a Friday night there. The occasion was marked by a brilliant guest mc in the shape of Solo Banton. He has worked for a long time on Sound Systems in London, but is only just emerging on the international scene. Having worked extensively with the Reality Shock crew he has gone on to release some great tunes for the Jahtari and Police in Helicopter labels, which you should check via the links below. Also their resident mc’s Scotty and Zeb are going from strength to strength and the three of them together provided a proper quality session!!
